Do you know who Mario Cesario is?

Mario Cesario is a golf club maker.

In fact, he is considered to be one of the premier club designers of the 20th century. Tonight is the grand opening of an exhibit in his honor called, “Sweet Spot: Life's Work of Renowned Golf Club Designer Mario Cesario and 50 Years of Golf in the Desert.” It’s at the La Quinta Museum in Palm Springs, CA if you’re interested in checking it out.

So why should you care about Mario Cesario?

Well, he has made custom woods for PGA TOUR pros like Tom Watson, Judy Rankin, Gene Littler, Bob Rosberg, Patty Sheehan and Nancy Lopez, to name a few.

Plus, he has also custom made golf clubs for celebrities like Jackie Gleason, Dean Martin, Ray Bolger and Chuck Connors.

Cesario, 75, learned the art of golf club making 60 years ago – at a time when wood was actually used to make woods. He created a unique method that let him imprint personalized logos on club faces using epoxy and resin.

Country clubs like Tamarisk, Thunderbird and Indian Wells and Augusta Country Club, all used him for customized logos on woods sold in their pro shops. Even Bob Hope and President Gerald R. Ford had him make logoed woods.

Cesario made a custom driver for President Gerald Ford with the Presidential Seal embedded in the club face. And for Bob Hope, he embedded a caricature of the comic in the club face of his driver.

As Hope wrote to Cesario in a 1975 letter, “These are too pretty to use… I wouldn't dare hit myself in the face.”

Cesario was elected to the Professional Clubmaker's Society Hall of Fame in 2000. He is also known for designing the McHenry Metals Tour Pure Driver.

To me, the art of golf club making seems like an oxymoron. These days, woods are just ugly metal objects.

I wish we could go back to using real wood woods. Think about it, this would eliminate 300-plus yard drives, and force pros to hit longer fairway irons more often. Wouldn’t that make golf more exciting to watch?

Actually, imagine being able to call a wood, a wood, because it is a wood.

Geoff Ogilvy DUMPS Puma... Heading to Footjoy

Geoff Ogilvy is switching apparel sponsors. He dumped his former sponsor Puma for Footjoy... and he also switched golf clubs. He has gotten rid of Cobra and is now playing Titleist. Note, Footjoy and Titleist are both divisions of Acushnet.

It seems kinda smart on his part... because when I think of Puma the brand, I think of a person that's hip and young. Geoff Ogilvy is neither of these. I'd imagine they were probably going to drop him soon anyway.

Puma probably doesn't care much though... They recently signed on two-time All American from Oklahoma State Rickie Fowler.

Fowler, who could be the next big superstar on the PGA TOUR, seems like a much better match for the Puma brand.

As a Puma rep put it, "We are extremely excited about that relationship for a number of reasons — U.S. based male, great headwear exposure as well as being an exciting young, hot asset in golf."

Agreed.

Couples & Pavin Heading to Champions Tour

The Champions Tour's first event of the year is the Mitsubishi Electric Championship at Hualalai. Hualalai Golf Course in Ka'upulehu-Kona, Hawaii is hosting the tournament in 2 weeks for the 14th straight year.

What's so exciting (for me at least) about this event is... Competing in their first Champions Tour tournaments is two of my favorite golfers - Fred Couples and Corey Pavin.

Couples a 15 event PGA TOUR winner, and winner of the Masters title in 1992, became eligible for the Champions Tour in early October.

So why do I like Couples so much? Honestly, I love his swing. No matter how much his back hurts - his swing is always smooth... and he has consistently crushed the ball as far as any golfer out there. Yes, there are some young guns out there who out-drive Fred, but lets see them do it as long as he has.

As for Corey Pavin, who has 27 international wins, 15 on the PGA TOUR - including the '95 U.S. Open at Shinnecock Hills - he turned 50 in November. And another notch in Corey Pavin's belt is that he is going to captain the U.S. team at the 38th Ryder Cup at Celtic Manor in Wales this fall.

So why do I like Pavin? Quite frankly, I love watching a guy that's only 5'2" and weighs just 127 pounds spank the ball down the middle every time, and win tournaments. Okay, I know he's really 5'9" and around 155 lbs., but he looks tiny compared to most players.

Heck, the amount of food Craig Stadler eats in a single day weighs more than Corey Pavin's total body weight.

No Three Putts wishes Fred Couples and Corey Pavin good luck on the Champions Tour with the 50-plus crowd. Go get 'em.

Kevin Streelman's "Golf Like a Tour Pro" App for iPhone

Kevin Streelman, the winner of the Kodak Challenge last November, along with a hacker named Larry Slivka has just released an app for the iPhone.

It's called Golf Like a Tour Pro.

In short, this iPhone app lists 50 shots that an amateur golfer typically encounters on the course... Then, Streelman gives fundamental advice on how a pro thinks about each shot and show you how he handles it.

He does this in a clear and concise manner - with regular-speed and slow-motion videos so it's simple for any golfer to understand.

So if you read golf magazines, but can never seem to remember the tips when you get out on the golf course - this could be perfect for you.

It only costs $4.99 and has already sold over 7,000 copies.

Kevin Streelman and Slivka plan to develop a version for Google's DROID phone, and for DVDs and e-readers. Plus, that may develop another golf app with Streelman's PGA Tour peers later this year.

Hit Down Dammit! by Clive Scarff

Hit Down Dammit! is a golf instructional program that will help you play better golf.

How? Simple, by teaching you to hit down at the ball. You see, Clive Scarff, the founder of Hit Down Dammit! says there are 2 types of golfers benefiting most from his system right now. These are:

1. The player who hits up at the ball. Someone who does not realize the golf ball should be hit with a downward blow.

2. The player who does not understand the concept and can't grasp the technique of hitting down at the ball.

Here's a primer video to give you an idea of his teaching philosophy:

Hit Down Dammit! also contains chapters that can help your golf game if you need help with any of these problems:
  • You can't get enough loft on the ball
  • You need to get more distance
  • You get the same distance from all of your clubs
  • You hit the ground before making contact with the ball
  • You need more consistency
  • You need help hitting your long irons and woods
Here's a sample (from his cool Phototron Fastcam in Slow Mo) of the quality video footage his program contains:

Pretty awesome, huh?

Clive Scarff, guarantees his program can work for any golfer (he has a money back guarantee if you decide it's not right for you) who needs to strike the ball better. As he put it, "Most golfers have more than enough ability... so the problem isn't with their talent, but with the fact they are trying to do something wrong. They are trying to hit up at the golf ball."

I strongly urge you to visit Clive's site and judge for yourself if this program is right for you.

Check it out here: Hit Down Dammit!
nce imagined but now given up on.

Let's Golf the Video Game

Gameloft's popular iPhone golf game, Let's Golf, is coming to DSiWare. This might not be big news to most golfers, but to one's who have an 8 & 9 year old in the house like I do - it's very newsworthy.

As you may know, there has not been a new golf game for the Nintendo DS since the last version of Tiger Woods golf was released over 2 years ago. And I don't think the timing is great to release a new version of the Tiger Woods golf video game.

R.I.P. Palm Springs Country Club

It's kinda sad when a golf course with some history, like Palm Springs Country Club, in Coachella Valley becomes a vacant piece of desert wasteland. Just look at it now, pathetic:

President Dwight Eisenhower and Rat Pack member Frank Sinatra used to play at Palm Springs Country Club. But the course closed on President's Day in 2007 for good.

A developer planned to build 450 homes on the site, but he died. And now the course is nothing more than dirt with remnants of a playground for the rich and famous. It must suck living in the gated community next door and looking out at what once was a beautiful golf course.

But the people of Palm Springs aren't alone... No Three Putts was once within months of living next to a golf course that went bankrupt (although I didn't know it at the time) too. A bit of background...

In 2001, right before my second son was born, my wife and I put our house on the market so we could move nearer my office. At the time we were living in Wellington, Florida on the 11th hole of Binks Forest Golf Club.

A Carolina style golf course, with almost no palm trees - unusual for Palm Beach County and southern Florida in general.

Well, just 2 months after we moved, Binks Forest Golf Course went bankrupt, closed down and home values plummeted. It looked like a cow pasture for many years.

Luckily, Binks Forest finally reopened a couple of years ago. I haven't made it back out there to play a round yet, but I will.

Michael Jackson the Golf Course?

Gary, Indiana, the hometown of the late and great Michael Jackson plans to honor MJ by building a ginormous theme park. The design of said park will be a mix of Jackson's Neverland Ranch and Chicago's former Riverview amusement park.

There will also be a Jackson family museum, a performing arts center and a 300-room hotel on roughly 100 acres.

That's nice... but here's why I'm writing today: The plans also include a golf course.

WTF? When I think of Michael Jackson I don't think of golf. Do you? I didn't think so. I guess the folks in Gary will do anything to cash-in on the "King of Pops" name.

The cost of this project is expected to hit $1 billion over the 10-year period it takes for construction.

My prediction for this project and the golf course: It will never happen. Why? Because where in the world are folks in Indiana going to come up with a billion dollars to fund it... Good luck.

First African American Golf Course Owner Bill Powell Dies at 93

Bill Powell, was the grandson of Alabama slaves, who went on to do amazing things in golf...

He became the first African American to build, own and operate a golf course. Powell built Clearview Golf Club, in East Canton, Ohio after serving our country in World War II.

Sadly, he died Dec. 31, 2009 at Aultman Hospital in Canton, OH after having a stroke at the age of 93.

Video of Barack Obama at Mid Pacific County Club

Here's a video of President Obama greeting people who live on the Mid Pacific Country Club golf course in Kailua, Hawaii. Unfortunately, we don't get to check out his golf swing. But he does drive his own golf cart.

A Sorta Funny Tiger Woods Thought...

I certainly can't and won't take credit for this, but I thought it was kinda funny. So here it goes:

"A Lion would never cheat on his wife.. but a Tiger wood."

It really should read: "A Lion would never cheat on his wife.. but a Tiger wood, sixteen times."

Phil Mickelson's Man Boobs

Here's a pretty funny story Steve Williams (Tiger's caddy, if you didn't know) told about Phil Mickelson's man boobs before the start of the 2009 season...

Woods and Mickelson were paired together during the US Open. They were fighting for third round lead. On the way up the 17th hole Tiger waved to a full grandstand of about 5000 people. The crowd yelled and cheered.

The crowd quickly became silent and a fan yelled out "Phil." There was no response from Mickelson. He yelled "Phil" again. No response again. The fan tried a different approach yelling, "Hey, Mr Mickelson."

This got Phil's attention and he turned and waved. The fan screamed "Nice tits." The crowd burst out in laughter... Mickelson booked a double bogey, bogey and his chances of winning the tournament were over.

What's funny is that Phil claims he had lost 20 pounds leading up to the Open. I'm sure if he hadn't lost the weight his man boobs would have been bigger and the catcalls more frequent.

By the way, Williams also said: "I wouldn't call Mickelson a great player ... 'cause I hate the prick."

Guess what Steve Williams, I'm sure Mickelson hates you and I absolutely know No Three Putts hates you.

And Phil, how about keeping a strict diet and working out a bit in 2010 so we don't have to see your Man Boobs.

Is 2010 the Year of Phil Mickelson?

With Tiger Woods not playing golf until April (I think he'll be back for the Masters), will 2010 be a breakout year for Phil Mickelson?

I predict will be, here's why... In 2009 Mickelson won 4 tournaments:

  • HSBC Championship
  • Northern Trust Open
  • Tour Championship
  • WGC-CA Championship at Doral

That's the most wins he's had since 2005, and the fourth time in his career he's had a four win season. But he did this even with the stress of his wife Amy Mickelson, a former Phoenix Suns cheerleader, having breast cancer. Here's a picture of the Mickelson family:

So, if he can have a great season with his Amy having cancer... just imagine what he will do with her being healthy, and Tiger Woods on the sidelines.

I look forward to watching Phil Mickelson dominate the PGA Tour in 2010.

Go get 'em Lefty!

If want more info on Phil, you can check out Phil's Mickelson's website here.

The Day the Music Died at the Northern Trust Open

Northern Trust got blasted for having Earth Wind & Fire and Sheryl Crow perform concerts at the Northern Trust Open last February... and that's why they just announced that there will be no live music acts at this years golf tournament.

So why did they get blasted? Simple, because they took $1.58 billion in bailout money from the Troubled Asset Relief Program. Yes, they have repaid that money, but they are going to stick with golf-related speakers this year. Smart move.

Loudmouth Golf

I'm sure by now you've seen Loudmouth Golf clothing at your local club. If you haven't, you've probably at least seen John Daly wearing some stylish yet crazy colored clothes on the links.

Rocker Alice Cooper, former NFL quarterback Jim McMahon and Pro Long Drive hitter Bobby Wilson all wear Loudmouth Golf gear too.

And so does yours truly - No Three Putts. A few months ago a Loudmouth Golf associate gave me a pair. I have to admit, I get more than a few glances when I wear them, but they always seem to come with a smile, and a comment like, "Hey, nice shorts."

Here's a link to their website: Loudmouth Golf.

I definitely recommend these golf shorts. They are well made and you'll definitely get noticed.

AT&T Ditches Tiger Woods

AT&T is ending its sponsorship of Tiger Woods. Just like Accenture and Gillette - AT&T is dropping Tiger because of his 16 "transgressions."

I guess this means Tiger Woods won't be the host of the AT&T National PGA event next July... and he won't have that big logo on his bag in 2010.

I'm sure the list of sponsors dropping Tiger Woods will continue to grow.

Is Nike next?

Is Tiger Woods a Sex Addict?

Rumor has it Tiger Woods is in Phoenix, Arizona... but not for plastic surgery as some have suggested, but to get help with his sex addiction.

From what I gather, rumor has it Tiger Woods is at one of two upscale rehab centers in Arizona: Cottonwood de Tucson or The Meadows.

Is Tiger Woods really a sex addict? Is there a "cure" for it?

I don't know...

Barack Obama the Golfer?

According to a White House correspondent President Obama has played 25 rounds of golf since becoming President. But he's only played seven basketball games on the south lawn of the White House.

How important is golf to Barack Obama?

Well, he waited 3 days to address the attack on Flight 253... refusing to interrupt his Hawaiian golf vacation.

President Obama has even agreed to be the honorary chair at the President's Cup Tournament.

A Real Golf Club Slaying

With the Elin and Tiger golf club incident making all the news these days... a real golf club slaying just sent an 18 year-old Detroit area kid to the slammer for 5-15 years.

Apparently Robert Lowry beat another 18 year-old to death with a golf club in September. You can read the full story here.

Cops Say Tiger Woods Had a "Fat Lip"

According to Florida Highway Patrol spokeswoman Kim Montes - Woods and his attorney met with troopers on Dec. 1.

And Tiger Woods had a "fat lip" but there were no other visible facial injuries, four days after the infamous "accident."

The meeting took place somewhere in Orlando. The meeting took place so the cops could hand him a $164 citation for careless driving.

Montes told Orlando television station WESH that Woods had a "fat lip," but no other visible injuries.

What does Tiger Woods want for his 34th birthday?

Today is Tiger Woods 34th birthday, and obviously this years celebration won't be too exciting...

I have a few questions I've pondered regarding Tiger's birthday:

Which (if any) of his 16 mistresses do you think he'll celebrate with?

Will his kids be there?

What do you get him for a gift? Condoms? A prepaid cell phone? Never mind it's too late for one of those.

That's all for now. Oh, I almost forgot - Happy Birthday Tiger!

The "Tiger Woods of Poker" Phil Ivey Gets Divorced

Not only does my favorite poker player, Phil Ivey, look like Tiger Woods... but he has something else in common - he's getting divorced too.

Ivey and his wife Luciaetta filed a joint petition in a Nevada court on December 22. The divorce was granted on December 29, 2009 and both parties were present for the ruling.

Phil Ivey made roughly $12 million this year. He's not exactly in the same league as Tiger when it comes to money - but it's not chump change either.

Tiger's Wood - the Porno

Apparently "Tiger's Wood" is the name of the porno, that's calling itself "the 'official porn parody' of the non-golf exploits of the sports icon. The script riffs on the story and (presumably) makes up stuff where it might make things spicier."

And the cast is in place...

Porn star Kayden Kross is starring as Tiger's wife "porn-Elin," and Tyler Knight will play "porn-Tiger."

Tyler recently blogged, "I'm Tiger Woods, bitches."

In other Tiger Woods porno news, Vivid, is offering up to $1 million to any current or former mistress of Woods' who will star in a porn.

Ya just don't get to read about this stuff in Golf Digest!

Tiger Woods' Stuff on ebay

ebay is flooded with everything related to Tiger Woods right now...

From $21,000,000 Tiger domain names... to a $29,999 Tiger Woods worn shirt from the 2007 U.S. Open... to a signed golf ball for $6,500... there's something there for everyone.

If you didn't get the Tiger gift you wanted for the holidays - no worries simply go here now.

How Much Did Tiger Woods' Transgressions Cost Investors?

Two professors from University of California, Davis estimate the loss to shareholders from Tiger Woods's marital infidelity at up to $12 billion.

The researchers said their study answers the question of whether celebrity sponsorship impacts a firm's bottom line.

"Our analysis makes clear that while having a celebrity of Tiger Woods's stature as an endorser has undeniable upside, the downside risk is substantial, too," said Victor Stango, professor of economics.

Stango and fellow economics professor Christopher Knittel studied the stock market for 13 days after Woods crashed his car on November 27.

The UCD economists compared returns for Woods's sponsors to those of the total stock market and of each sponsor's closest competitor, a UC Davis news release states.

The study focused on nine sponsors: Accenture, American Express, AT&T, Tiger Woods PGA Tour Golf (Electronic Arts), Gillette, Nike, Gatorade, TLC Laser Eye Centres and Golf Digest.

Shareholder value fell 2.3 per cent - or about $12 billion.

Investors in - Tiger Woods PGA Tour Golf, Gatorade and Nike - fared the worst, experiencing a 4.3 per cent loss, or about $6 billion.

Note: The pattern of losses is unlikely to stem from ordinary variation of stock prices, the researchers stated in their study.

John Daly Playing Golf Topless

Here's a classic video of John Daly playing golf without a shirt and no shoes on.

Warning: Do not watch this video on a full stomach.

He actually looks thin here, for him that is.

Rick Reilly, Steve Williams and Tiger Woods

Apparently Tiger's caddy, Steve Williams, was not happy about an article written by Rick Reilly for ESPN The Magazine.

In short, sports columnist Rick Reilly said Woods should fire Williams if he is going to make an effort to repair his marriage.

“(Woods) needs to clean house,” Reilly wrote... “If he wants to keep his wife, he has to get a new agent, a new caddie and some new friends.

“It’s hard to believe all this went on without their help or knowledge. How can she see them as anything but enablers?”

But here's the ridiculous part: Williams denied having knowledge of Woods’ transgressions.

Here's what Steve Williams said, “What people fail to realize is I (just) work for Tiger Woods... I live in New Zealand, I travel to and from New Zealand to caddie for Tiger Woods. I am not with him 24/7."

He went on with his ridiculous banter...

“Whilst I am a very good friend of his … I don’t know what he does off the course. His indiscretions have probably been (when he wasn’t playing). When he is not competing, I am back in New Zealand. I have no knowledge of what he is doing.... I am an honest person. I had no knowledge of what was going on (with Tiger). If I did, I would say I did.”

Does he think people are that stupid? Are we really supposed to believe that load of crap?

It's obvious Steve Williams is trying to save his own marriage to Felice (pictured here with Steve). Who is probably concerned that Steve was out with Tiger having transgressions of his own.

Williams is ready to carry Woods’ bag when he returns to golf.

In his words, “I have always stated that my last caddie job will be caddying for Tiger... I am committed to him. I understand he needs a break to sort his personal stuff out and I will be there for him when he wishes to return to play.”

Nick Price Goes Quail Hunting

Nick Price, a part-time Jupiter Island resident, spent Christmas killing quail in Okeechobee at the Pine Creek Sporting Club.

Price is one of the founders of the ranch. So is Jack Nicklaus, former New York Giants running back Tucker Frederickson and Stephen Myers a Palm Beach developer.

I'm not a fan of hunting, especially farm-raised animals, that are solely bred to be shot and killed. The irony is that I have no problem eating chicken, cow or fish raised so I can eat them. Oh well.

Tiger Woods Audio Book?

According to the New York Times, Hachette Audio will release Tiger Woods’s 2001 best seller, “How I Play Golf,” as an audio book in May 2010.

In it, Tiger Woods shares the “psychological practices he uses daily to keep his game in top shape and help him transcend all the ups and downs of golf,” according to a description in Hachette Audio’s spring-summer 2010 catalog, which was mailed recently to bookstores and journalists.

“The catalog went to bed months before the scandal unfolded,” Anthony Goff, publisher and director of Hachette Audio and Digital Media, wrote in an email. “We had no idea he’d be all over the news for anything other than his golf game.”

The ironic part of the audio books release: They plan to release it for Father's Day.

Tiger Woods Removes Forum From Website

A few Tiger "fans" are speaking their minds on his website forum... and apparently Tiger doesn't like what they have to say.

For instance:

“You are such a piece of garbage ... good job wrecking your family, butthead,”

Another wrote: “You are a laughing stock - just another arrogant athlete who thought he could get away with anything ... your image was nothing but a fraud.”

So, to avoid postings that Tiger doesn't want on his website - he removed the forum.

Too funny.

Is Tiger Woods in Texas Getting New Teeth?

A reliable source with direct ties within the PGA tells me Tiger Woods is in Texas getting three front teeth fixed.

Did Elin smash Tiger in the face and break his teeth? I don't know.

All I can tell you is I live about 5 miles from the PGA of America headquarters - I'm playing at PGA National Golf Club today - and that's what I've heard.

I heard that when his "entourage" went to Costco to load Tiger's boat Privacy with food, it was done as a decoy so he could sneak out on a jet and go to Texas for dental work.

Here's a look at his mouth before Tiger's "transgressions" incident:

Again, I'm not sure if there is any merit to this, but if I'm right - remember where you heard it first!

Helen Alfredsson Reveals Golfers Knew About Tiger's Transgressions

Swedish golf pro Helen Alfredsson is the first golfer to reveal that it was common knowledge on the golf circuit that Tiger Woods was cheating on wife Elin Nordegren.

"I heard it last summer during the British open," Alfredsson told Sweden's TV4 station.

Alfredsson, 44, said Woods is"cold" and that there is "something odd about him."

"If he just paid for the escorts, I [would] understand it a bit more," she said. "Then no one needed to know. But now he did everything and a girlfriend and everything."

Alfredsson, is married to former National Hockey League player Kent Nilsson, also mentioned that she wondered why Woods bothered to get married.

"When he says to the girl that he cannot see her because he has family matters, when Elin will give birth, is he not a bit cold?" she asked.

You'd think a fellow Swede might have given Elin a hint something was going on. It's pretty easy to break silence now... I'm sure Elin wouldn't mind swinging a 5 iron at her for not bringing this up long ago and sparing her the public humiliation!

Is Golf Digest Severing Its Ties With Tiger Woods?

Apparently Golf Digest is suspending Tiger's monthly instructional golf articles. At least for now while Tiger is "taking a break" (avoiding public humiliation) from golf.

Woods has an exclusive contract with Golf Digest valued at $3 million per year.

A spokesman for the company didn't reveal much, "We have nothing to say in regards to Tiger's compensation."

But he did say Tiger will remain the magazine's masthead as Playing Editor.

I think what he meant to say is, "Tiger will remain the magazine's Playa Editor."

Tiger Woods' Mother Kultida

Apparently Tiger Woods' mother Kultida is not very happy with her son.

Apparently a family friend says Kultida Woods is "angry and disappointed" with Tiger and wants to know "how he could do this to his family."

Of course, Kultida is familiar with this behavior - Tiger's late father Earl Woods supposedly cheated on her.

Although Kultida Woods is going to support her son, when she discovered Tiger's transgressions she said, it was "devastating," because she loves her grandchildren and "doesn't want to see them hurt."

Here's a picture of Kultida and Elin Nordegren:

Little Johnny Joke About Tiger Woods

Here's a pretty funny Little Johnny joke about Tiger Woods:

It is near the Christmas break of the school year. The students have turned in all their work and there is really nothing more to do. All the children are restless and the teacher decides to have an early dismissal.

Teacher: "Whoever answers the questions I ask, first and correctly can leave early today."

Little Johnny says to himself "Good, I want to get outta here. I'm smart and will answer the question."

Teacher: "Who said 'Four Score and Seven Years Ago'?"

Before Johnny can open his mouth, Susie says, "Abraham Lincoln."

Teacher: "That's right Susie, you can go home."

Johnny is mad that Susie answered the question first.

Teacher: "Who said 'I Have a Dream'?"

Before Johnny can open his mouth, Mary says, "Martin Luther King."

Teacher: "That's right Mary, you can go."

Johnny is even madder than before.

Teacher: "Who said 'Ask not, what your country can do for you'?"

Before Johnny can open his mouth, Nancy says, "John F. Kennedy."

Teacher: "That's right Nancy, you may also leave."

Johnny is boiling mad that he has not been able to answer to any of the questions.

When the teacher turns her back Johnny says, "I wish these bitches would keep their mouths shut!"

The teacher turns around: "NOW WHO SAID THAT?"

Johnny: "TIGER WOODS. CAN I GO NOW?"

Al Sharpton's UnOfficial Press Release on Tiger Woods

Al Sharpton Blasts Tiger Woods for Lack of Mistress Diversity

The Rev. Al Sharpton held a press conference today to blast Tiger Woods for the lack of diversity among his mistresses. Sharpton claims that the lack of African-American women among Woods’ harem will have a negative affect on the black community, specifically young black girls.

“Why is it that a man who calls himself black can’t bring himself to cheat on his wife with a black woman?” said Sharpton, speaking to a group of supporters in Harlem. “What does it say to young black girls everywhere when you pass them over? Shame on you, Tiger Woods. What would your daddy say?”

Sharpton, who has long championed taking black women as mistresses, said that today’s black athletes need to stop neglecting black women when it comes to extramarital affairs, and should follow the examples of positive black role models such as Jesse Jackson and Martin Luther King, Jr., both of whom cheated on their wives with black women. Sharpton also stressed that cheating with African-American women would help the black community financially by giving black girls the chance to sell their stories to tabloids and gossip magazines.

Added Sharpton, “I’m not asking you to not cheat on your wives, I’m just asking you to give back to your own community.”

Gatorade Drops Tiger... Coincidence?

Gatorade confirmed Tuesday it is dropping its Tiger Woods drink, called Tiger Focus. They claim it has nothing to do with Tiger's recent "transgressions." And this was published in Beverage Digest 2 days before news first broke of Tiger's Escalade hitting the fire hydrant incident, but No Three Putts wonders if they somehow had the inside scoop and new this was coming. What do you think?

Tiger Woods Action Figures Are On Sale

I was just at Toys-R-Us doing some holiday shopping when I saw this Tiger Woods action figure on the clearance rack.

How ironic.

Tiger Wood's Mother-in-Law Barbro Holmberg

Apparently Tiger's mother-in-law Barbro was rushed to the hospital with stomach pains. Oy vey...

What are we going to find out next? That Tiger Woods is addicted to pain killers or some other drug. More to come, as the fiasco know as Tiger Woods' life unfolds...

Tiger Woods, Elin Nordegren, and the Other Women in His Life...

Apparently the cat is out of the bag. From what I've read Tiger isn't having an affair with just one woman. There are several women that he's having relations with. These include:

Kalika Moquin
Jaimee Grubbs
Rachel Uchitel

I'll add more names as they come out of the woodwork.

Here's a link to an article with complete details on the women in Tiger Woods life.

More details to come...

Secrets of the Irish Links

Did you know there are more than 300 total golf courses in Ireland—BUT only 44 of them are "links."

In fact, in the entire world, there are only about 150 true links golf courses. And Ireland has nearly one-third of the world's total.

And I know you've heard the term links hundreds of times, but you may be wondering: What exactly is a "links" course?

In short, it's a golf course that's next to the ocean, peppered with giant grass-covered sand dunes, excruciatingly high maram grass rough, deep valleys, and spectacular views of the cliffs and sea.

Which brings me to the book pictured above: Secrets of the Irish Links

Author, Mike Palmer, has compiled a thorough - yet, clear and concise - book containing the details of what he calls, “the Best Golf Vacation in the World.”

This book details Mike’s journey through Ireland - over the course of a month - on his quest to find the perfect golf vacation. He flew 3,000 miles across the Atlantic, traveled 2,200 miles by car and ferry—playing almost four-dozen golf courses along the way in four weeks.

All No Three Putts can say is, “What a LUCKY BASTARD!!!”

His days went like this: Wake up at dawn, play golf, then drive to find the next course. Often playing one course in the morning, driving 20-30 miles and playing another round in the afternoon. Ah, what a rough life…

He showered... ate dinner, then drank beer and talked golf with the locals. Then did it again the next day. Why? Well, first, because his wife actually let him... and second because he wanted to get the full story on the secret mid-summer getaway of many of the world's top pros.

While Scotland and Britain have the most famous links courses in the world—Ireland has the best collection. Ireland is the only golf destination, that I know of, where every course is open to the public.

That’s right, every course is open to the public. In other words, every golf course... even the best links, which have been around for almost 150 years, is open to visitors.

Imagine being able to play the best courses in America—Augusta National, Oakmont, Winged Foot. Odds are, unless you have a lot of money, or a rich and well-connected uncle, you'll never even get onto the grounds of these places.

Well, in Ireland, you can play the best of the best. And, there are about two-dozen of the world’s best golf courses—on an island that's about the size of West Virginia.

Irish Golf Secrets Revealed

Of course, Irish golf is not the secret it was 20 years ago.

But what Mike found during his travels is that, if you look hard enough, a good many secrets still remain. For example... There's a great course in County Donegal that even hard-core Irish links fanatics have probably never heard of.

It costs just $40 a round—and, incredibly, is one of the 10-best courses in the entire country. It's located next to one of Ireland's most beautiful beaches... with spectacular valleys... mountains in the background...

Or: The best golf resort in the county also happens to be one of the best bargains—and it’s almost totally unknown, hidden next to two sweeping bays and several beautiful beaches.

The place has 36 of the best golf holes in the country… a spa… a great bar and dining room overlooking the sea… yet rooms cost less than $100 night.

Along the way Mike learned dozens of other secrets… all of which are revealed in his new book: Secrets of the Irish Links.

And what Mike did is interesting… He ranked every Irish links course from top to bottom, based on design, challenge, condition, the welcome, and the facilities. Like a bottle of wine, each course received a score from 1-100.

His final results surprised me... and I’m confident they will surprise you too. Although I’m not going to reveal the breakdown of all 44 of Ireland’s links courses here.

I’ll tell you this: Mike’s book is very thorough, well-written (meaning it’s a fast read with a lot of good pictures), and he offers an honest review of each course.

And by the time you’re done reading this you’ll know exactly where you can go to buy his book, for a ridiculously low price…

It’s More Than Just a Golf Book…

If you plan to take a golf trip to Ireland, Secrets of the Irish Links is filled with practical advice that will make your golf trip easier, cheaper, and more fun. For example, you'll discover:

How to save hundreds of dollars on a rental car. Rental cars are much more expensive in Ireland than they are in America. But you can save considerably by making two simple moves before you leave home. (page 210)

The best brand of waterproof clothing on the market. Spend a week in Ireland, and you're almost guaranteed to see rain. It's no problem if you have the right gear. I learned this the hard way. (page 204)

The easiest way to find your own castle, cottage, or manor house anywhere in the country, perfect for a golf vacation. (page 202)

The secret to not getting lost on Irish roads—ignore this advice at your own risk. (page 210)

Where to go if you plan to take the wife and kids (page 200), and how to have a great Irish golf vacation without ever having to pack up your suitcase and change hotels (page 200).

You'll also learn about the history of golf in Ireland— there's a chapter on how the game and the country as a whole have changed over the past 100 years.

That’s Just the Tip of the Iceberg…

You’ll also find more great info, like:
  • How to get around in first-class comfort... on a shoestring budget (page 206)
  • Secret shortcuts that will shave hours from your driving time (page 213)
  • The secret to staying dry and warm. Hint: It's not about having the right clothes. (page 209)
  • How the Irish rules of golf are different from those in America (page 211)
  • How to save 15% on everything you buy (page 209)
  • How to stay at Ireland's most luxurious resort, and be within reach of 5 of the country's top-10 golf courses (page 201)
  • How to play the 10 best courses all over Ireland, while avoiding the Irish roads altogether (page 197)
  • How to play Ireland's great "undiscovered links gems." On several of these courses, you won't see another foreigner all day. (page 216)
  • How to save about 75% off the regular phone rates to Ireland (page 210)
  • How to play the one course in Ireland that's been used for the British Open—and is scheduled to be used in 2007 for the Senior's Open. (page 141)
  • The least crowded top-10 course in Ireland (page 160)
  • The best course near Dublin (page 166)
  • How to bet like the Irish (page 207) How to find out how much better Tiger Woods is than you. (page 160)

John Daly Gets Hamered in Los Angeles

John daly has withdrawn from the Bob Hope Chrysler Classic Saturday morning with a supposed "rib injury".

Hmmmm.... "Rib injury" sounds like a not so clever way to say "Hungover".

Here's a blurb from today's Los Angeles Times: Daly has been a regular this week at the Hope's tournament parties. He attended two more tournament parties Friday night, including an after-party, and told one local reporter to ignore the fact that he was drinking. At the first party, Daly sang "Knockin' on Heaven's Door" in a duet with Alice Cooper. Eyewitnesses said Daly was helped out of the after-party by an unidentified man.

Maybe the "rib injury" was so painful that he had to get out for a night on the town... have a few drinks to alleviate the pain.

Do you think partying it up was in Butch Harmon's plans.

You'd think a guy without his tour card - yes he's playing on a sponsor's exemption -might be just a little more responsible.

I guess it kinda makes sense, when I was in college, I used to have a few pops every once and a while... and sing a few tunes... perhaps the Squeeze or Meatloaf. Oh, but my ribs weren't injured.

Golfweek Fires Moronic Editor for Noose Cover

WTF were the folks at Golfweek magazine thinking?

So you'd think the entire golf world would want the Kelly Tilghman lynching Tiger Woods comment to go away forever, right? Uh yes. What in the hell was the entire staff at Golfweek thinking? Print a noose on the cover of a golf magazine. Are they insane? It's stupidity at its finest folks.

Here's their 'formal' lame ass apology:

"We apologize for creating this graphic cover that received extreme negative reaction from consumers, subscribers and advertisers across the country," Turnstile Publishing Co. president William P. Kupper Jr. said. "We were trying to convey the controversial issues with a strong and provocative graphic image. It is now obvious that the overall reaction to our cover deeply offended many people. For that, we are deeply apologetic."

They fired Dave Seanor, the vice president and former editor of Golfweek. Duh. Seanor said that he took responsibility for the cover, of a noose against a purple sky with the title, "Caught in a Noose."

The subtitle said, "Tilghman slips up, and Golf Channel can't wriggle free."

Here's what PGA Tour commissioner Tim Finchem had to say about Golfweek: "Clearly, what Kelly said was inappropriate and unfortunate, and she obviously regrets her choice of words," Finchem said in a statement. "But we consider Golfweek's imagery of a swinging noose on its cover to be outrageous and irresponsible. It smacks of tabloid journalism. It was a naked attempt to inflame and keep alive an incident that was heading to an appropriate conclusion."

Kelly Tilghman Suspended for Lynching Tiger Comment

Three hours after the big mouth Al Sharpton made a call... Kelly Tilghman has been suspended from The Golf Channel for two weeks.

Here's the official statement from The Golf Channel: "The Golf Channel regrets the poorly chosen remarks made by Kelly Tilghman on a recent broadcast and, again, extends our apologies to anyone who was offended. There is simply no place on our network for offensive language like this. While we believe that Kelly's choice of words was inadvertent and that she did not intend them in an offensive manner, the words were hurtful and grossly inappropriate. Consequently, we have decided to suspend Kelly for two weeks, effective immediately."

Do You Wish You Were a Rich Jerk?

This Site is too damn funny. Loser.

Kelly Tilghman says "Lynch Tiger Woods"

Seems to me the The Golf Channel's PGA Tour broadcaster Kelly Tilghman has potentially ruined her career. You see, Kelly made the racist comment that today's young players should lynch Tiger Woods in a back alley.

Yes. she apologized two days later... but WTF was she thinking? And why didn't TGC make her apologize that day?

I'm not a fan of Tiger Woods myself, but to make racist comments like this are absurd.

Will she get fired? Should she get fired? Is Arnold Palmer's former caddy a racist? WTF should happen? I'm sure there will be more to this story soon...

And of course The Golf Channel has NOTHING about her comment on their homepage. Instead there's some lame article about Daniel Chopra winning in Kapalua. Who the hell is he anyway?

Here's a link to the Golfweek noose cover: Click here to see the cover.

Adams Golf Signs Rory Sabbatini

Rory Sabbatini has just joined elite company. I'm talking about golfers like Tom Watson, Bernhard Langer... oh and lets not forget Aaron Baddeley.

These are the guys who have helped build the Adams Golf brand.

Sabbatini has been playing Adams Idea Pro hybrid for two years, and he recently tested the Idea a3 irons. Obviously he liked 'em.

Sabbatini had his best year on tour last year. He won the Crowne Plaza Invitational at Colonial, finished in the Top 10 at nine other tournaments, including a tie for second at The Masters. Plus, he was the only player to have Top 10 finishes at all four FedEx Cup Playoff events. He finished 2007 ranked sixth on the Money List winning over $4.5 million.

But is it his playing ability or his verbous dislike for Tiger, and the great press he gets because of it, that caused Adams Golf to sign him? I definitely think its a combo of both.

By the way... I think it's about time someone on Tour has had the balls to call out Tiger and stop kissing his ass.

Good luck to Rory Sabbatini with your new Adams Golf sticks... I hope you have even more success kicking Tiger's ass in 2008.

Brian Kontak Winner of Big Break Mesquite

Yes, we all know that Brian Kontak defeated Josh Warthen in the 18-hole match-play to win Big Break Mesquite. He won the match, 6 and 4, and schooled Josh Warthen pretty good.

But I personally think Kontak is NOT, I repeat NOT, the best golfer on the show.

If there had been a 72 hole event. Hiroshi Matsuo would have easily beaten Kontak and every other golfer on the show. Without a doubt Hiroshi is the most talented golfer in Mesquite.

I'm not saying this because he lives in Jupiter, like I do... or because I eat at his restaurant a few times a year. I'm saying this because he led the way for the entire show. He was the only player that every golfer turned to when it was crunch time.

Brian Kontak talked a good game, but he'd shut up quickly if he ever had to go head to head with Hiroshi.

PGA National Golf Club

About 9 months ago my father retired after 40 years as a jeweler. But what's a retired jeweler with not too many hobbies, besides golf, to do?

Get a job at a golf course, of course. Become a ranger/starter. And that's exactly what my Dad did. But he didn't go to some public rat trap... Oh No... he went to a gem about 5 miles down the road off PGA Blvd... PGA National Golf Club

And on New Years Day we had our first round of the year together on the Squire Course. I played ok. Had a bunch of pars, a birdie and one hole I'd rather forget about.

One thing about my round... we played with a two-some that had no idea what Ready Fire Golf is. Meaning walk up and hit your ball. No etiquette crap. It doesn't matter who is farthest from the pin... blah, blah, blah.

The only reason I mention the need to play quicker is because it was getting dark and we didn't get to play the last 3 holes. Which kinda pissed me off, but what can you do? At least I know I'll have many rounds at PGA National this season. Looking forward to playing the newly remodeled Palmer Course and I'm giddy thinking about beating it around the Champion.

ADT Golf Skills Challenge

Did anyone watch the horrible ADT Golf Skills Challenge at The Fairmont Turnberry Resort & Club in Miami, FL?

I'll admit I watched about 15 minutes of this event, but what a joke. Seriously though, watching pros like Greg Norman (He still plays golf?) and Bubba "I've never won a PGA or Nationwide Tournament" Watson is a waste of time.

At least Peter Jacobsen and Natalie Gulbis are both active and can win. But then there's the athletes...

Dan "I need to lose another 30 lbs" Marino and Roger "I'm a drug-takin' cheater" Clemens... and Jerry Rice is just so arrogant and annoying to watch, I never realized what an a-hole he is. Ok, so of the athletes that competed I guess John Elway was as good as it gets.

IMHO this event is a complete waste of time. Watching celebrities/'former' athletes is just stupid.

Here's how I would format the ADT Skills Challenge... For starters, say goodbye to the washed up former athletes. Then pair up the top 2 golfers from the following: PGA Tour, Nationwide Tour, Champions Tour, LPGA, European Tour, Asian Tour and the two finalists from the US amateur.

Then lets see who has the real skills. I'll never watch the ADT Skills Challenge again, until they let real golfers compete against one another.

How To Break 80 Newsletter

Here's an excerpt from: "The Web's Most Popular Golf Improvement Newsletter" I get this for FREE. I think it's worth checking out...

How To Break 80 Newsletter from December 26, 2007

In this issue we'll discuss...
1) Eliminating Tension Cuts Strokes

2) Getting Hip To Power
3) Question of the Week - Hitting From a Sidehill/Uphill Lie
4) Article - Change Your Game Without Changing Your Swing
5) Article - Grooving Your Swing
===============================================

1) Eliminating Tension Cuts Strokes
Tension is an insidious golf "disease." Usually, it starts in your hands and then creeps into every muscle in your body. It breaks down your golf swing. And it strips it of power and accuracy. When tension gets into your address position, it generates mistakes like the dreaded pull hook.

Eliminate tension from your body and you eliminate strokes from your score.
Bad swing thoughts cause tension. They include thing like:

  • Thinking about swing technique
  • Confusing power with speed
  • Recalling a bad memory or experience
  • Doubt about the shot

To eliminate tension, focus on the bad thoughts causing you to tense up and eliminate them. Doing that produces a smoother, more rhythmic swing that drives the ball longer with much less effort. Here are some suggestions for achieving a tension-free swing.

Add to your pre-shot routine a starting thought of feeling relaxed by focusing on slowing down your heart. Take deep breadths with an inhale count of five and an exhale count of five. This exercise prepares you for taking a lighter, softer grip.

Make mini swings in slow motion. Concentrate on your core rotation, with your hands and arms swinging freely and the weight of the clubhead moving slowly through the impact zone. Make a conscious effort to relax your hands.

Before walking into your address position recall the feeling of your most solid shot and how great it felt when the ball left the clubhead. If you don't have any good shots to recall, think of a memory (family, pets, jokes, etc.) that makes your feel good.

How to Cure a Golf Slice

Ok, I'll admit it... About 5 months ago I had a nasty slice. Not sure where it came from, but for the very first time in over 30 years of golfing, I became a slicer.

So I went online to try and figure out what was going on. Why in the world I had a slice and how I was going to cure said slice. I read a bunch of interesting comments and suggestions. Scoured the blogs and forums. But then I stumbled on an Instant Golf Slice Cure.

I was skeptical at first, but for only $47 (the price of a dozen balls) and a money back guarantee, I figured what the heck. I only have something to gain. And after one, I REPEAT, one trip to the driving range... I completely lost my slice. I was hitting it straight and even got back some of that natural draw that I had for so many years.

If you've got a slice, I'd really consider skipping a lesson and check out Dave Moore's Secret to Curing a Golf Slice.

I truly feel Dave's system is a must read if you have a slice.

P.S. - After using this system please come back here and leave a comment. I'd love to hear if it helped you as much as it helped me.

But I needed to get this in the hands of a female golfer to really validate my thoughts. And Mrs. No Three Putts was up for the challenge. Although she's not a golf fanatic, she is a golfer and a female. Her thoughts went like this "I can't believe this was only $29. I spend more than that at Starbucks in a week. Considering everything I learned, this is a great value."

BONUS THOUGHT (From the guides promo):

Did you know that women are more flexible than men, have more efficient swings, and are more naturally suited to the game than our male counterparts? That being a fact one has to wonder why we are so intimidated by being on the course or by male golfers.

Muscle does not make a good swing. Distance alone does not make a good golfer. Yet this, coupled with a certain arrogance by males on the golf course cause a very high level of intimidation even while our muscle-bound friend plays golf no better than we ourselves might. It stops here!

The Golf Club of Jupiter

This morning I took my sons (ages 6 & 7) to the driving range. Although down here in southern Florida many ranges could also be called lakes.

Lucky for us, within 2 miles of our house are 2 nice public courses. There's Abacoa Golf Club or the Golf Club of Jupiter. I prefer Abacoa because of the nice grass range and overall a much better facility. But having young boys, they prefer the Golf Club of Jupiter. They like to hit off of the artificial turf and watch the balls splash in the water.

I understand the logic. It's much more fun to watch a ball splash than to watch it roll. So for now we're sticking to the Golf Club of Jupiter's Driving Range Lake.

To check out the program now Click Here for more info on "The Simple Golf Swing" (Note: I provide a link at the end of this post).

Here’s how you’ll do it:

What makes "The Simple Golf Swing" so Successful?

In short, it's about using the spine as an axis to promote consistency and to keep you on the correct swing plane. You'll learn the correct hand action so that you can add distance to every shot. You'll learn the correct timing to get straight ball flight, and consistent direction. You get a step-by-step guide on the full swing, a step-by-step guide on the short game, a mental guide, and personal coaching to make all of this happen quickly and easily.

Here’ what you’ll learn:

What ""The Simple Golf Swing"Teaches:

• You will find a step-by-step guide with detailed photos that will teach you the correct way to grip the club. Instructions for the interlocking and the overlapping grip are included. This will let you experiment to see what works best for YOU.

• Learn a method to check that you grip the club in the same manner for every shot to promote consistency.

• Learn a detailed procedure that will ensure that your grip promotes straight ball flight, and not a hook or a slice.

• Learn a secret on how to align the club face so that you don't push the ball right. This is a problem that many golfers face, but luckily it is an easy one to fix.

• Discover an easy method to hit more greens. It's not difficult once you have the correct information.

• Learn the revolutionary setup. "The Simple Golf Swing" setup allows you to swing around your spine. The key is to limit the amount of horizontal and vertical body movement during the swing. This setup will automatically give you the correct swing plane that promotes consistency and power. It's given to you in a step-by-step procedure that is easy to remember on the course.

• Discover the easiest way to make perfect impact with the ball on every shot. Just imagine the amount of stokes that you will save.

• You may have heard of the one-piece takeaway. Learn the method that will help you master this move, and keep your swing connected. This is the most beneficial part of the system. It provides consistency, and gives you a controlled swing that results in increased distance.

• Learn how to get to the top of your backswing, and how to get into the same position for every shot. "The Simple Golf Swing" teaches you a method that promotes an inside-out swing that you can use to automatically hit the fairway.

• Learn where to stop your backswing. I teach a shorter backswing than most. A short backswing promotes consistency, and increased distance. Remember, golf is a game of opposites.

• Discover the distance secret that many instructors don't even address because it's so hard to teach. Here's a hint: Hand Action that can increase your swing speed by 10 mph.

What you will GAIN:

• Your slice will be corrected: Golf Digest has done many studies to prove that a straight ball goes much further than a slice or a hook. Many professionals, including Jack Nicklaus, Ben Hogan, and Fred Couples have found tremendous success by hitting a controlled fade. Many more prefer to hit the draw. With consistency in mind, "The Simple Golf Swing" system was developed to teach the bogey golfer how to hit the ball STRAIGHT. For you this means added distance and confidence on the tee, and increased accuracy on the approach.

No Three Putts Thoughts on The Simple Golf Swing ebook

The book is written by a guy I’ve never heard of, David Nevogt. Is he a pro? A certified instructor? I don’t think so. But frankly I don’t judge a person based on their qualifications. I went into this as opened minded as I possibly could…

And here’s what I found… David breaks the swing down into simple steps. These steps are effective and easy to learn. I do think if you follow David’s advice you’ll be hitting straighter in 2-4 weeks.

David guarantees that you’ll shave 7-12 strokes off your game or you’ll get your money back. I think this is an unrealistic expectation for any golfer that regularly shoots below 87, but I think every golfer can gain something from this ebook.

Here’s the Money Back Guarantee:

P.S. #2: If for any reason you're dissatisfied, you can return them within 60 days for a complete refund. No questions asked. You have nothing to lose and everything to gain.

My Final Thoughts

I think in order to really make the Simple Swing ebook work it takes about 20-30 minutes of practice/training every day for 2 weeks. By that point you’ll be comfortable with the setup, backswing and downswing.

David’s techniques do support a consistent golf swing that I find is easy to repeat.
The Simple Golf Swing is well worth the $47 price. It includes a bunch of bonuses that I’ll let you check out for yourself. For the price of a dozen Pro V1’s you really have nothing to lose.

Reading this ebook will not make you a better golfer. You will need to put in a minimal amount of work to using this to become a better golfer. I am confident the results will surprise you and shock your golf buddies. My recommendation: Buy this ebook. Here's how…

Instructional Golf Products on the Internet

As I get older, please note I'm only 38, I realize that golf and many other sports for that matter are 80-90% mental. So I've decided that in order to become a better golfer I really need to focus on the fundamentals of golf, not the overpriced new clubs, balls, shoes, etc...

After reading a few classic books... I wanted to see what's on the internet. In this world-of-information-at-your-fingertips I knew I'd find a gazillion 'gurus' hocking the latest and greatest techniques so we can go on Tour. Right.

What I've decided to do is take these blokes to driving range and eventually out on the course to see if they're worth it. I figure if we can spend $50 on a dozen Pro V1's... Spending $20-$99 on an instructional or even inspirational golf e-zine is well worth every penny.

That is, if we can get just one single bit of information out of them to become better golfers.

In a sense, what I'm trying to do here is cut through the hype and BS so you can spend your money- and time-wisely. Of course, ultimately I want you to improve your golf game which as far as I'm concerned is something you can't put a price on.

So please feel free to write your own thoughts and feedback if you have used any of the products I review. Quite frankly, there's some really good stuff out there... let's find it and lower our scores in 2008.

Little Balls, Big Dreams

Every once and a while I get offers to read golf books and review them. Puts me in a kinda tough position. What if I think the book is crap? Do I write an honest review after being given a free copy of a book? Do I lie and say I liked it? Nope, I'd never do that. So as much as I enjoy reading I typically prefer to make the decision myself on what I'd like to read.

A couple of months ago James Wolfe emailed me about reading and reviewing his book: Little Balls, Big Dreams

At first I was like, thanks but no thanks. Then I read the title of the book again and thought with a title like that, why not.

Here are my thoughts: Would I put it in the same league as The Da Vinci Code, of course not. Would I recommend this book to any avid golfer - you betcha! This little book (it's around 167 pages) is a pleasant quick read. It's filled with so many golf cliches, terms and phrases I almost forgot some of the lingo existed. If you're a golf fanatic or you've got a buddy that is, you'll really enjoy Little Balls. Worst case scenario, you put it on a coffee table, the title alone makes for great conversation. Heck, it could be a book on a guy trying to get into porn.

Here's an excerpt from the email I got from James about the book:

It’s a tale about a middle-aged family man, Matt True, whose childhood dream and adult fantasy was playing professional golf on the PGA Tour. One day the unimaginable happened. Matt sank a hole-in-one that inexplicably catapulted his skills from that of an eleven handicap player to a level rivaling the best golfers in the world.

Little Balls, Big Dreams is the story of how an average middle-aged guy manages the raw talent of a superstar. The pressure of big-time competition and glare of the spotlight. The disruption to his family and cushy lifestyle. The hard work of converting raw talent into achievement. Of enduring the colossal stress test of the PGA qualifying school. Of scrutinizing his own beliefs and priorities.
This is a love story. Love of golf, of family, of life.

Here are a few of the interesting Golf Tips you'll find in this book:

-80% of golf luck is bad.

-Know your limitations. If you can’t hit a shot, don’t.

-You’re as good as you think you are. Or at least the downside of this maxim is on the money. If you think you’re a loser, you’re a loser. On a golf course or anywhere else.

-Don’t sweat the small stuff. All things considered, the shanks, yips, ducks hooks are pretty small potatoes in the big scheme of things. Don’t sweat the big stuff, either. Because it simply doesn’t matter. At least not as much as you think it does.

-Let it all hang out. Express your emotions, while managing them. Experience the ups and downs, understanding that they will affect the next shot. A good shot not only increases your confidence and expectations, a good thing, but also your heart rate, a not so good thing. A bad shot can make you angry and frustrated, a bad thing, but part of living. And it can destroy your confidence. Feel and express your emotions then haul them back under control before the next shot.

Snowman - A Golf Story

Ok, a book named Snowman does not sound like a golf related book to me. But, according to the author, Dave Saari, it is a golf tale.

I quote Dave, "It features a golf fanatic who one day witnesses a shocking scene while playing golf and is launched on an exciting adventure encompassing the Minneapolis/St. Paul area and Minnesota’s North Shore of Lake Superior, including several of our fine Minnesota courses".
