Does Retief Goosen have a personality?

After seeing the enthusiasm, or shall I say lack of enthusiasm, Retief had after winning the US Open. I would have to say this guy is a dud, no fun and definitely not the life of any party. To sum up Retief Goosen's personality in one word: personalityless.

Is he a great golfer, you bet. Is he a guy you want to hang out with, I doubt it. After making countless one putts on the back nine he didn't show any signs of cracking a smile. Even after hitting in the rough or bunkers you would think Retief would be human enough to show signs of frustration. Nothing. Nada. Somebody check this guy to see if he has a pulse.

Golf analysts, commentators and writers all refer to him as cool under pressure, calm & collected, blah, blah, blah. I say that's a crock, he's boring. Would it hurt the guy to show golf fans that he too gets upset or gets happy on the golf course just like we do? Show us some damn emotions. Seriously, after winning the US Open you tipped your hat. What are you 75 years old?

Bio:
Name: Retief Goosen

Didn't you see the way that he was chewing his lower lip? That would count as tearing your hair out for anyone else!

Seriously, before I read this I wrote this for a different take...

He's doing his fucking job. He's an athlete, not an entertainer.
Maybe if Phil turned OFF the charm and concentrated a little more on making shots than making friends, he's have a 1st in the Open.

Am I the only person that thinks that Phil's shrink has told him to smile?
During some of the tougher holes at the Open, I thought the smirk looked a lot like the Joker's in the first batman movie: A manic grin more than a smile.
It was as if he told himself, come hell or high water, I am going to smile.

English is not Goosen's first language. Not that there aren't more lively personalities in South Africa, but their manners are more polite than American manners of today. Goosen is different from Mohammed Ale or Joe Namath or even Tiger Woods. His manners are more like Lou Gehrig or Stan Musial or Gene Sarazen. We in the United States have lost something and that is manners. We are more into in your face rudeness or anything that is not boring. And we are very easily bored. If Goosen had been playing in the nude, no one would be criticizing his personality. Americans, we have become uncomfortably numb. Goosen Fan (also William Hung fan)

Who saids the Goose doesn't have any personality? Just because he doesn't hand pump like Tiger, or simle like Lefty does, doesn't mean he doesn't have a personality! I bet when he raised the U.S. Open tropy in 2001 and 2004, he was filled with joy inside, but he is just one of those people who don't show their feelings outloud. What's wrong with that? Nothing! I would rather be him then Tiger or Lefty jumping up and down like a monkey with its batteries all charged up, and embarrasing themselves infront of a huge crowd. Goosen is just one of those quiet golfers that mind their own business, and I wish thee were more of those kind of golfers like him!

Oh yeah! The Big Easy doesn't do a Lefty-like or a Tiger-like but everyone still love him?!?!?!?!?
